Technology Education

In Dewitt, only 8th graders take Technology Education. However, the Technology Student Association is available to all grades, if you manage to get in. There are only two teachers of Tech at Dewitt; Mr. Walters and Mr. Buchner. Each of them teaches one half of the 8th grade.

In our classes, we work on many different projects throughout the year. The projects require students to use critical thinking to solve problems, test out solutions, and put our skills to the test while learning new ones. Each one is unique and fun at the same time. Some examples would be The Marble Maze, in which you are given the task to build a series of ramps for a marble to roll down.

Some examples would include the Humpty Dumpy, in which you are to build a hydraulic arm that brings an egg safely off the top of a wall. Or, the Junior Solar Sprint, in which you are to build a solar-powered vehicle and race them for speed. These projects are certainly not the only ones, and the students enjoy all of them very much.

This Junior Solar Sprint vehicle was a 1st place winner a few years back.
